Google Maps is now showing web search results when searching for a local business, on both mobile and desktop.
Historically, the sections which show in the left side column alongside the map included: ‘Popular times’, ‘Review Summary’, ‘Reviews’ and ‘People also searched for’. Below that section you can now find ‘web results’, which lists the Google search results for the business you searched for on Google maps.
Why does this matter?
This new feature could eliminate the need for a potential customer to perform two separate searches; a Google Maps search and a Google Web search. These search results may be the first bits of information a customer sees when mapping out your business. Ensuring the info in these web results is accurate and up to date will help show you in the best light to your customers.
